Preliminary information

Before getting to the heart of this tutorial and explaining how to delete Snapchat accounts, it might be useful for you to know what deleting an account entails and, above all, what options are available in case of second thoughts.

Deleting a Snapchat account is a rather simple operation that allows all users to delete their profile at any time. You should know, however, that after completing the process of deactivating an account, it is necessary to wait 30 days for the account in question to be permanently deleted.

During this period, your account will be temporarily deactivated and will no longer be visible on Snapchat: this means that, in addition to no longer being able to access the service and share new content, your friends and other users will no longer be able to contact or interact with you. As previously mentioned, your data and your profile will still be kept for 30 days so that, if you change your mind, you can recover your account and find it just as you left it.

After 30 days from the date of deactivation, all your data (e.g. your account settings, friends list, chats, posted content, etc.) will be deleted from the Snapchat database and your account will be permanently deleted, without no chance to recover it. Please note that some personal data may be retained by Snapchat for certain legal, business, and security needs. More info here.

Finally, I would like to underline right away that it is not possible to delete Snapchat accounts from the app : in fact, by accessing the settings of the Snapchat application for Android (also available on alternative stores, for devices without Google services) and iOS/iPadOS, there is no option to cancel your account. To do this, it is necessary to proceed via browser, even from a computer, by accessing the Snapchat site dedicated to account management. Having clarified this, let’s see how to proceed.

How to delete Snapchat account from Android and iPhone

As mentioned in the initial lines of this guide, to delete a Snapchat account from Android and iPhone you need to access the Web version of the famous social network and, after logging in with the credentials associated with the account to be deleted, press the option to permanently delete the account in question.

To proceed, therefore, start the browser installed on your device (eg Chrome on Android and Safari on iPhone / iPad) and connect to the accounts.snapchat.com site dedicated to managing Snapchat accounts. Then enter your account data in the Username or email and Password fields and tap the Login button to log in.

On the Manage my account screen, press the Delete my account option , re-enter the password associated with the Snapchat profile you are deleting in the Password field and tap the Continue button. If all went well, you will see the Account Deactivated message, indicating that your account will be inactive for 30 days before being permanently deleted. Also, if you’ve previously verified your email address on Snapchat, you’ll also receive an email confirming that you’ve opted out.

If you change your mind, to reactivate an account that has been canceled for less than 30 days, you will need to use the Snapchat app. Then take your device, start the app in question (if you have already uninstalled it from your smartphone / tablet, my guide on how to download Snapchat may be useful) and tap the Login button.

In the new screen that appears, enter the account data to be recovered in the Username or email fields (to recover a deactivated account it is not possible to use your email address but you must log in with your username) and Password and press the Login button again.

Finally, tap on the Yes and OK buttons to automatically reactivate the account in question: as soon as you can use your Snapchat account again, you will receive an email at the email address associated with it. In some cases it may take up to 24 hours. To find out more, I leave you with my guide on how to recover a Snapchat account.

How to delete Snapchat account from computer

If you’re wondering if it’s possible to delete a Snapchat account from a computer, you’ll be happy to know that the answer is positive and that the procedure is identical to what I previously indicated to unsubscribe from Snapchat from smartphones and tablets.

Also in this case, in fact, it is sufficient to connect to the Snapchat site dedicated to account management, log in with the credentials associated with the account to be deleted and then select the Delete my account option.

In case of problems

If you followed the instructions I gave you in the previous paragraphs of this guide, you should have managed to deactivate your Snapchat account, which will be permanently deleted 30 days after the deactivation date. If this is not the case because you have encountered problems that prevented you from deleting your account, I recommend that you contact the Snapchat staff and request assistance.

To do this, launch the Snapchat app , tap your photo , top left and press the gear wheel icon, to access your account settings. Now, locate the Support section, press the option I need help and tap the Contact Us button.

In the new screen that appears, put the check mark next to the options I have comments to make, I have a question, Other functions and My problem is not in the list and press the Yes button . At this point, enter your data in the Username and Email address fields, describe the problem encountered in the What information should we be aware of? and tap the Send button to send your message.

Keep in mind that Snapchat’s support service, at least at the time of writing this guide, is only available in English.
